Who is the Course for?
Anyone interested in learning the basic skills involved in pruning trees and shrubs.
The Course
1 days. No formal assessment. Primarily an outdoor course.
This course is an introduction to pruning skills exact course content will vary according to the plants available at the venue and the demands of the attendees.

What should you bring to the course?
Outdoor clothing and stout footwear suitable for weather conditions, and strong working gloves.
Tools
Bill Hook, Bow or Silky Saw, Pruning knife, Secateurs, Loppers. Tools can be provided or you may use your own. Please confirm when booking your place.
Note: All trainees must be over 16 years of age. Persons with certain ailments or on certain medication may not be able to take part in the practical sessions.

What the course includes:
Risk Assessment
Selection of Tools including maintenance, storage and serviceability
And one or more of the following:
Formative pruning. Pruning trees up to 6metre spread to include correct pruning, diseased and damaged branches etc.
Fruit tree pruning, as formative pruning, and pruning for yield.
Shrub Pruning. Pruning a range of different shrubs
Hedge cutting
