Considerate Handling of Animals in Transit
Who is the Course for?
Anyone transporting farm animals, poultry or horses in connection with an economic activity. If you travel over 65km (approx 40 miles), but under 8 hours (Short journey), or over 8 hours duration (Long journey), you will also have to pass a test to prove that you are competent. The legislation also requires evidence of training.
The Course
Half a day (4 hours approx) classroom course followed by a written multiple choice tests for the following; Unit 1 = Cattle, Sheep, Pigs and Equines. Unit 2 = Poultry & Game Birds. Unit 3 = Long Journey Attendant. Unit 4 = Long Journey Driver. Separate practical assessment for Long Journey.

What should you bring to the course?
Classroom course - no special equipment required. . Assistance with paperwork available on request in advance of the course
Note: All trainees must be over 16 years of age. Certain units require a current relevant driving licence. Persons with certain ailments or on certain medication may not be able to take part in the practical sessions.
