Agricultural Tractor

Anyone using an agricultural tractor for work purposes in a range of industries and work environments.

The course
1 to 5 days depending on experience,
Novice & Experienced Operator/Refresher training available
Written test – tick boxes and short answers – and a practical assessment.

Refresher training is recommended approximately every three years

What should you bring to the course?
Work overalls or suitable work clothing, hi-visibility vest or jacket, hard hat, steel toe cap boots, 2 passport photos, gloves and eye protection if appropriate.

All trainees must be over 16 years of age and in good health.
Persons with certain ailments or on certain medication may not be able to take part in the practical sessions

What the course includes:
• Identify the basic construction and components, and the purpose and use of all its controls and gauges.
• Identify and comply with manufacturers instructions in accordance with the operator’s handbook, other information sources, and applicable legislation.
• Carry out all pre-use and running checks.
• Prepare the tractor for site and road travel.
• Attach trailed and mounted implements to the tractor.
• Travel over differing types of terrain, including rough undulating ground, with trailed and mounted implements
• Travel up and down substantial inclines, with and without mounted and trailed implements.
• Manoeuvre progressing to confined areas using forward and reverse direction, with and without mounted and trailed implements.
• Identify precautions and actions for underground and overhead services and other hazards.
• Operating PTO driven implements
• Undertake loading procedures.
• Place the excavator in an out-of-service condition
• Explain the loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter.
