Have you got your Red CPCS card? Have you registered for your NVQ yet?
Your red card will expire 3 years after being issued. If you obtained yours in 2003, IT WILL EXPIRE THIS YEAR !!! When it expires, you CANNOT RENEW IT, and unless you have completed the NVQ in Plant Operations Level 2, and logged 300 hours operating experience in your log book, you will NOT BE QUALIFIED to operate any of the machines listed on the back of your card. Don’t leave it until the last moment to register with us for the NVQ because it takes a minimum of 10 weeks from registration to completion, and if your Red card expires during that 10 weeks you will NOT BE QUALIFIED to operate the machinery until the NVQ is complete, and in addition to this you will incur the further expense and inconvenience of having to take ANOTHER PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT.
Lynher Training is accredited to deliver the Plant Operations NVQ Level 2, as well as the full range of CPCS training and assessments, so please give us a ring to discuss your particular requirements. Rest assured that we will do our utmost to make the NVQ process as smooth and hassle free as possible, minimising time off work and loss of earnings. Lynher Training is also an approved OSAT Centre which allows for experienced candidates who require little or no training (as evidenced by profiling) to complete their NVQ in the minimum time.
The NVQ starts with one of our advisors speaking to you either on the telephone or in person at your convenience, where an initial profile will be completed. Then, you will be required to attend one of our half day induction sessions at Duchy College, (or on your site by arrangement), where you will complete a more detailed profile (Skillmatch) designed to check whether you are an OSAT candidate, and you will also be registered for the NVQ. This will be followed by a session explaining what the NVQ entails and what you will need to do to complete it successfully. You will be given a portfolio folder and you will be told what you will need to do to complete it. (e.g. Collect evidence such as photos/videos of yourself performing tasks, and letters from employers etc), and the assessor will make arrangements with you to visit you at your workplace to assess your progress. For very experienced candidates who are able to provide all the required evidence with the minimum of help from the assessor, two visits to your workplace may be all that are needed in order to complete the NVQ. For less experienced candidates further visits and guidance may be required.
The cost of the NVQ is dependant on the number of visits required (see costs below).
POINTS TO REMEMBER:
• Your logbook will provide a lot of the evidence you need for your NVQ.
• Red cards must be at least 6 months old before they can be upgraded to blue.
• When you apply for your blue card you must have passed your touch screen H&S Test within the last two years.
• The NVQ takes a minimum of 10 weeks to complete.
