The course
1 to 9 days depending on experience,
Novice & Experienced Operator/Refresher training available
Written test tick boxes and short answers and a practical assessment.

Refresher training is recommended approximately every three years
What should you bring to the course?
Work overalls or suitable work clothing, hi-visibility vest or jacket, hard hat, steel toe cap boots, 2 passport photos, gloves and eye protection if appropriate.

What the course includes:
Identify the basic construction and components, and the purpose and use of all its controls and gauges.
Identify and comply with manufacturers instructions in accordance with the operators handbook, other information sources, and applicable legislation.
Carry out all pre-use and running checks.
Prepare the excavator for site travel.
Travel over differing types of terrain, including rough undulating ground, using different wheel drive and steer combinations
Travel up and down substantial inclines.
Manoeuvre in confined areas using forward and reverse direction.
Position and set the machine to excavate.
Identify precautions and actions for underground and overhead services and other hazards.
Identify Soil and material characteristics.
Excavate below ground level.
Load vehicles and hoppers.
Backfill, grade, spread and level different types of terrain.
Remove and re-attach different buckets
Place the excavator in an out-of-service condition
Explain the loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter
