Health, Safety & Environmental Awareness for Fencing Operatives (FISS)

Who is the Course for?
Fencing contractors who require certification in order to work on Major Contractor Group scheme members’ sites, or on contracts for the Highways Agency, Local Authorities and Railtrack.

The Course
This is a one day classroom-based session. No formal assessment.

This course is a pre-requisite for the green (fence labourer), red (trainee fence installer), blue (skilled fence installer), or gold (fencing supervisor) ‘FISS’ / CSCS cards. An in date ConstructionSkills Health & Safety Test is also required.

The green and red cards are the only ‘FISS’ cards you can apply for without having completed an NVQ in Fencing Operations (please check for latest information).

Refresher recommended every 3 - 5 years

What should you bring to the course?
No special equipment required.

Note: All trainees must be over 16 years of age. Persons with certain ailments or on certain medication may not be able to take part in the practical sessions.
