Controlling Risks to Health and Safety in Agriculture and Production Horticulture - Lantra Level 3 Award
Who is the course for?
These Health and Safety qualifications have been specifically designed with support from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to provide people working within agriculture and horticulture with knowledge to help them protect their own Health and Safety and the Health and Safety of employees who may be affected by their activities (HSE).
Course Outline
Level 3 is designed for Supervisors, skilled employees, unit managers, union or worker safety representatives and farmers/growers who are self employed or employing only family. Mandatory Unit – Controlling Risks to Health and Safety in the Land Based Sector (Credit Value = 3)

All Lantra Awards qualifications derive from National Occupational Standards (NOS) that are developed by Sector Skills Councils in conjunction with industry. More information about NOS can be found on the individual Sector Skills Councils’ websites.
The Level 3 is awarded on the achievement of 6 credits (40 Guided Learning Hours) and all credits must come from the two mandatory units. Level 3 is assessed by a single multiple choice answer test and a work based assignment that involves the following:
• Carrying out a risk assessment, recording the main findings and arrangements for health and safety
• Developing a communication strategy which relates relevant information
• Researching the purchase of services and equipment

This is a classroom-based course, and is assessed by a single multiple-choice answer test and a work-based assignment.
Certificates

For individuals
All trainees should be over 17 years of age and in good health with reasonable ability for reading and recording details. Persons with certain ailments or on certain medication may not be able to take part in the practical sessions
