Basic Fire Training
Who is the course for?
The aim of this course is to provide delegates with a greater awareness of the threat of fire; the chemistry of fire; common causes of fire and how it spreads; fire hazard spotting and reporting; fire routine and evacuation procedures; access for fire service vehicles to site and practical use of fire extinguishers.
Course Outline
½ day practical course
This course is suitable for employees at any level within an organisation who may, at any time, need prevention, awareness and practical skills in dealing with the threat of fire. There are no pre – requisites for delegates attending the training course.
On completion of the course the delegates will be able to:
• Understand the requirements of the Regulatory Reform Order and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
• Understand the principles of fire risk assessments
• Appreciate how fire spreads and methods of extinguishing
• Understand the need for fire plans and what action to take in the event of fire
• Have practical ability to use water, CO2 Foam and powder extinguishers and fire blankets
What should you bring to the course?
This is a classroom based course
Certificates
Delegates will be assessed on their input during the practical exercise and their feedback. SSG Course certification lasts 3 years.
For individuals
All trainees should be over 17 years of age and in good health with reasonable ability for reading and recording details. Persons with certain ailments or on certain medication may not be able to take part in the practical sessions
