Tree Climbing Courses – Equipment List

Tree Climbing & Aerial Rescue (CS38)

• Work Trousers – (not shorts)
• Gloves – optional
• Helmet with chinstrap
• Boots – stout footwear, steel toe-caps or chainsaw/climbing boots (must have good tread)
• Waterproofs
• First Aid Kit (with whistle & knife with retractable blade)
• Climbing Rope – 13mm diameter Pre- stretched Tree Rope by 35 metres long • Approved tree climbing harness in good condition, CE marked
• 2 self locking, triple action karabiners
• 3 self locking or screw-gate karabiners for attaching tools
• One maillon rapide
• 2 whip tails (or lengths of rope 11mm or 12mm and 2 to 3 metres long)
• One prussic loop or similar for rescues
• Spikes – will probably be required for assessment, but not necessary for training

Note: We are able to provide ropes and harness for training, strictly by arrangement in advance of training. Please ensure that you contact us if you would like us to provide climbing equipment.

As with all outdoor courses several thin layers of warm clothing are better than one thick layer

Please note that any climber who may be going on to chainsaw use (CS39) may wish to wear the correct chainsaw PPE in order to familiarise themselves with climbing in this equipment.

Use of Chainsaw from a Rope & Harness (CS39)

Climbing equipment as above

Further equipment needed:
• Chainsaw – 15” guide bar or less with correct and appropriate tools
• Fuel / oil
• Chainsaw Helmet with visor, ear defenders & chinstrap (CE marked)
• Chainsaw Gloves (CE marked)
• Chainsaw Trousers – type C (CE marked)
• Chainsaw Boots (CE marked)

Important Note:-
We regret that we are unable to provide climbing equipment for N.P.T.C. assessments
