Basic Tree Climbing & Aerial Rescue (NPTC CS38)

Who is the course for?
Anyone climbing trees “professionally”. This course involves NO chainsaw use and can be completed prior to units CS30 or CS31 for people who want to use a chainsaw in a tree, or as a stand-alone unit for tree inspectors, bat workers, etc. This course must be completed prior to CS39, CS40 or CS41.

Course Outline
5 days for less experienced users, some learners may require more time to become proficient.

3 days for experienced users i.e. 3 years experience recommended.

What should you bring to the course?
Work gloves, work boots, helmet with chinstrap
Candidates will also need 35mtrs of 13mm climbing rope, 2 “whip tails”, 2 prussick loops, Climbing Harness, 5 Karabinas (including a minimum of 3 Triple action). All support equipment must comply with LOLER.

Personal First Aid kit attached to harness.
Candidates undertaking the CS39 course may want to wear their chainsaw PPE to help prepare for the CS39 training.

Separate practical assessment with questions (about 2-3 hours) through an NPTC centre. Individuals normally arrange their own assessment with their local NPTC centre once they have completed their training. Assessment Schedule are available at http://www.nptc.org.uk/assessment-schedules/

! Please note: All trainees must be over 16 years of age. Persons with certain ailments or on certain medication may not be able to take part in the practical sessions. Ability to work at heights is essential. First Aid training strongly recommended.
