Chainsaw – Sever Individually Uprooted Trees (CS34)

(Chainsaw and Related Operations (QCF))

Who is the Course for?
Anyone who wishes to sever single windblown stems that are still attached to the root plate.

You must have NPTC CS30, CS31 and CS32 qualification and have suitable and relevant experience.

Course Outline
2 days for less experienced users. 1 day for refresher or very experienced users (min. 3 years experience recommended)

What should you bring to the course?
Full Personal Protective Equipment: Chainsaw helmet (with mesh visor & ear defenders)
Chainsaw gloves, Steel toe-capped chainsaw work boots, Chainsaw trousers (Type C).
Chainsaw (maximum recommended guide bar length380mm 15”) in good working order, with manual.
Tool kit to include sharpening equipment, knock-in vice, depth gauge, raker, plug spanner & screwdrivers.
Fuel & Chain Oil. Felling Lever/Breaker Bar, Plastic Wedges.
Hand winch (min.1.6 tonnes) – tested and certificated Strops – tested and certificated.
Shackles – tested and certificated.
High Lift Wedges.
Sledge Hammer.
(The above can be hired for the course but not for the assessment.)

Personal First Aid Kit (must include large wound dressing). Non-snag outer clothing.

Please bring packed lunch and drinks for each day.

NPTC Assessment (not part of course)
This is a separate assessment with questions (about 3-4 hours) which individuals normally arrange with their local NPTC centre once they have completed their training.

Certificates
Lantra Certificate of Attendance
On successful completion of assessment -NPTC Certificate of Competence - Refresher Training is recommended about every 3 years.

! Please note: All trainees must be over 16 years of age. Persons with certain ailments or on certain medication may not be able to take part in the practical sessions. First Aid training recommended.
